One of Dorset’s best known property lawyers has stepped down from day-to-day duties after a distinguished career stretching back more than 40 years.
John Crawford was toasted by partners and staff at Ellis Jones Solicitors after taking semi-retirement from the firm’s Canford Cliffs office. He remains as a consultant.
A former President of Bournemouth & District Law Society, John qualified as a solicitor in 1970.
He became a partner with another Dorset law firm in 1976 and was promoted to senior partner 16 years later.
John, who specialises in acting for property developers and builders, joined Ellis Jones in 2007, initially as a partner.
Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, said: “John will be greatly missed on a day-to-day basis but we’re delighted that we’ll still be able to call on his knowledge, experience and wisdom as a consultant.”
John, who lists horse riding and sea kyaking among his hobbies, added: “I have greatly enjoyed my career as a solicitor, and particularly the last few years with Ellis Jones, but will still be around to help out as necessary.”
