A boutique property consultancy launched in Weston-super-Mare to support commercial and residential properties a few months ago now has more than £30 million worth of property under management.
Mcilroy Smith, with offices in Pastures Avenue, St Georges, Weston-super-Mare, is a start-up business headed up by Andrew Simmonds, one of the region’s best-known figures in property management.
In just a few months the consultants have been appointed to manage both residential and commercial properties in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, Bristol and South Wales.
Becky Hunt, who leads on residential management said: “We have just taken on the management of a Grade II listed property in North Somerset that has undergone a stunning conversion into multiple residences and we will be ensuring that it is managed well for the owners as they move in and supporting the landlord.
“With older buildings with special protection it is important to take away the hassle. The new residents will just want to live in a beautiful building with superb grounds; the developer wants to be able to see returns for investment made in the refurbishment and not have too many day to day issues to deal with once they leave site. That’s where we can bring real benefit to both sides.”
Andrew Simmonds said: “Our growth over the first few months has been strong and steady and has outstripped our expectations. We have taken on management of a retail park in South Wales and we are keen to develop the number of commercial and residential sites in the Bristol area as we continue to grow.”
Andrew Simmonds holds qualifications with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Residential Property Management and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) regulates the business.
The consultancy aims to provide a more personal service than people get from the bigger property agencies, whose main role is sales and estate agency. Mcilroy Smith support property owners on any aspect of property management, whether it is a specific project, long term portfolio handling or bespoke consultancy on a project basis.
They work with developers and housing associations to help them get things right from the very start of a project as well as providing general and strategic advice to property owners and landlords.
