The Nottingham office of DTZ, part of UGL services, a division of UGL Limited (ASX: UGL), has been appointed to market East Anglia’s largest single available industrial site – the former Boulton & Paul Joinery factory and timber yard in Lowestoft.
The site, called Waveney Point, comprises 628,000 sq ft of industrial buildings, as well as quay headings, across a 36 acre site on the town’s Waveney Drive.
DTZ has been appointed as joint agent alongside local agents, Arnolds to market the site, which has become available following the departure from Lowestoft of Jeld Wen, a successor to Boulton & Paul Joinery.
“This site offers an excellent opportunity to acquire reasonably priced industrial warehousing, both covered and open storage, in Lowestoft,” said Helen Longstaffe, Director at DTZ in Nottingham. “With extensive quay heading, the site would be suitable for a wide variety of occupiers.”
Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth were recently selected by the government as one of the five national centres for offshore renewable engineering. Part of the Waveney Point site falls within an area recently designated by Waveney District Council as being covered by a Local Development Order to support and promote businesses in the Energy, Offshore Engineering and Ports & Logistics sectors.
Helen Longstaffe added: “Lowestoft is performing well due to the increase in offshore engineering, the creation of the New Anglia Enterprise Zone, and the recent announcement of the planned construction of the East Anglia Array wind farm development off the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk.”
The site is available on a leasehold basis as a whole, or in part.
