Warwick Innovation Centre is quackers about its latest tenant.
Colonel Duck Productions, a visual and graphics company, was conceived by 20 year old entrepreneur James Adie in March and has moved into incubation space at the University of Warwick Science Park’s centre in Warwick.
Colonel Duck is the latest addition to the Science Park’s Ignite programme, which aims to support fledgling businesses, through access to, amongst other things, high quality office space and mentoring services.
Adie said: “Relocating to office space at Warwick Innovation Centre has meant that I now have accommodation and facilities to host clients and I have enough space to grow my business.
“I have the added benefit, having signed up to the Ignite programme, of being mentored by a business professional, who can help advise me on the best way to build my business.”
Adie began his production career by getting involved with student films while at school. He went on to study Physics at Imperial College London, where he was station manager of the student television station, before returning to his home town and taking up a video production and editing role with a company in Tamworth.
His decision to set up Colonel Duck Productions came as a result of wanting to branch out on his own, try new ideas and do things differently.
The company is building a strong portfolio of corporate blue chip clients, having previously completed work for construction company Willmott Dixon on their Building Schools for the Future project for Telford & Wrekin schools.
It offers clients a full range of services from full length infomercials, sales pitches and filming of corporate events, to training videos and special occasions.
Adie now also aims to expand his service offer, with the prospect of taking on a new member of staff at the end of the year.
He confirmed that he is on the shortlist in a bid to win two new projects and is looking forward to exploring new creative projects as the business grows.
Karen Aston, centre manager at Warwick Innovation Centre added: “It’s great to welcome Colonel Duck Productions to the Innovation Centre.
“It can be difficult for new start-ups, especially those with very specific requirements to find suitable accommodation that is flexible and affordable.
“That is where the Science Park and, particularly, the Ignite programme comes in as we can not only provide the flexible space but the support to grow the business.”
