Dachser has been confirmed as the occupier for Cabot Properties’ eagerly-awaited speculative distribution unit, C172, on Brackmills Industrial Estate in Northampton, just four weeks after reaching practical completion.
Dachser, one of the leading logistics providers, is expanding its operations on the Estate, taking a new 10-year lease on the newly completed 172,879 sq ft warehouse.
Situated on Brackmills Industrial Estate to the south east of Northampton town centre, C172 benefits from excellent road links to the A45 dual carriageway which joins the Estate to the M1 and surrounding motorway networks. Neighbouring occupiers on Brackmills Industrial Estate include; DHL, Asda, Great Bear, Howdens and Wickes.
Jed Raymond, Senior Vice President, Asset Management, Cabot Properties, said: “The quality of the facility and its excellent location within the wider national distribution network sets C172 apart as a premier distribution hub. To have secured Dachser just weeks after reaching practical completion is a milestone for Cabot as we continue to expand our presence here in the UK logistics market as an investor in and developer of value-add opportunities.”
Dachser has been a part of the Brackmills Industrial Estate since 1983, and eventually occupying four separate units. In 2014, Dachser consolidated its operations and created additional capacity for future growth with a freehold investment to create their Northampton Logistics Centre, which combines a large transit terminal.
Mark Rollinson, Dachser’s new UK Managing Director, added: “This facility, adjacent to our UK headquarters and regional branch office, compliments our growth strategy for the future. Our Brackmills, Northampton based operations continue to be a key component of our UK operation and contributed hugely towards the 16% growth we enjoyed in the UK over the last year and we are pleased to now be taking additional space on the Estate. As with our other warehouse investments, the new facility will be state-of-the-art, it will support our thriving operation and create new job opportunities for the local community. ”
Peter Monks, Director in Industrial & Logistics at Colliers International, added: “The deal to Dachser follows on from the 250,894 sq ft pre-let to Decathlon on an adjacent parcel of land, which saw the sports retailer take a new 25-year lease, reinforcing its commitment to the Estate. The fact that both Dachser and Decathlon have expanded their operations on Brackmills Industrial Estate is testament to the unparalleled credentials of the site and the wider area.”
Tom Kimball, Burbage Realty added: “Northampton has long been known for its reputation as a hotspot for logistics and distribution, and Brackmills Industrial Estate certainly benefits from its location directly within what is referred to as the ‘’Golden Triangle’ for the logistics sector.”
Colliers International and Burbage Realty are joint agents for the site.
