MEPC is delighted to announce that 3 Wellington Place, the latest building in the prominent Leeds City Centre development has had a hat-trick of new signings since opening for business; welcoming Mazars, Investec Wealth & Investment and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to the Wellington Place community.
The three signings mark a significant step forward at the Wellington Place development, with the trio of companies collectively taking 87 per cent of the total floor space within Number 3, all of which have been secured within the first six months of the building opening.
The first to make Wellington Place its new home is Investec Wealth & Investment, due to move in the fourth quarter of this year. The firm has acquired over 20,000 sq. ft. of BREAAM excellent rated office space, 60 per cent larger than its current location. The move has been spurred on by its increasing client base and allows for team growth, as the company continues to expand its Leeds operation.
The second of these signings is international accountancy and advisory firm, Mazars. Due to move into its new premises in November 2018, the relocation places Mazars in the heart of the thriving business community and enables the firm to house all of its 130 Leeds employees in one purpose-designed, modern space. The firm has seen strong growth in recent years, and the new office space gives the team the right environment to communicate and collaborate, and ultimately, deliver a great service to clients.
The third letting will see HMRC take 60,961 sq. ft. arranged across three floors. The fit out of the office space is due for completion in December 2018 and will accommodate around 1000 civil servants.
The trio of new businesses will all benefit from extensive on-site amenities at 3 Wellington Place, including a south facing roof terrace, basement parking, bike maintenance stations, free bike hire, electric vehicle charging points and shower/changing facilities, plus cafes and restaurants at ground level.
James Dipple, Chief Executive of MEPC, said: “3 Wellington Place is the best new building in Leeds, so it gives us great pleasure to welcome these three prestigious businesses to the development. The speed of the take up of such a large building within the first six months is a major milestone for the development, and really does demonstrate the broad appeal to forward looking companies of the scheme.”
With only 15,000 sq. ft of office and retail space remaining at 3 Wellington Place, the next focus for MEPC will now be on 4 Wellington Place, with plans currently being finalised and a ground-breaking date expected by the end of September 2018. 4 Wellington Place which offers 6 floors of space totalling 158,000 sq. ft, is a key part of the master plan of 14 buildings offering in excess of 1.5 million sq. ft of commercial, retail, leisure and residential accommodation, the building will be completed in early 2020.
