Construction of an £8 million mixed-use development in Wiltshire, including a hotel and two food and drink drive-thru outlets, is underway and progressing well, commercial property specialist Hinton Group has announced.
The development at Barnfield Close, Rodbourne, Swindon, is being delivered by Hinton Group on behalf of Loc8 Developments, with funding from LXi Reit.
It includes a 70-bedroom Travelodge with a Starbucks drive-thru and one of the UK’s first Subway drive-thru outlets.
The 39-week project is expected to reach practical completion in March, 2019. Infrastructure work has progressed well and steelwork has been erected.
Roadside and leisure development specialists Loc8 acquired the former allotment land in a conditional site purchase from Swindon Borough Council. Planning permission was granted last year.
Hinton Group director Andy Elwell said: “It’s great to finally start on site and we’re looking forward to delivering first class facilities in Swindon on behalf of Loc8 Developments.
“The completed project will see a new 70-bedroom Travelodge with adjacent, high quality, drive thru outlets providing food and drink options for the local people and visitors to the area. It will be an exciting new addition to the retail and leisure sector in Swindon.”
