Ambitious Midlands-based building contractor MCS Group is entering an exciting new era as it prepares to start construction of its new £2.5 million headquarters after planners gave the project the green light.
The company, currently based in Claverdon, Warwickshire, is building its 8,500 sq ft HQ at the Opus 40 site in Haywood Road, Warwick, as it enjoys a period of sustained growth in delivering projects across the industrial, storage and distribution sector.
MCS Group, which also operates in the motor, retail, and commercial sectors, has gained planning permission from Warwick District Council for the new development. Work is expected to start on site later this month (September).
Founded in 2003, the company was first based at Stoneleigh Deer Park, now Abbey Park, before relocating to its current base at Claverdon. It currently employs 55 staff, which could rise to 65 once the new HQ reaches completion in early 2019.
The company, which recently won two prestigious national business awards, has set itself a target of doubling its current turnover to around £200 million by 2020 and increasing profits. In the past four years its turnover has increased from £38 million to an expected £110 million this year. Key clients include developers Chancerygate, Opus Land and Richardson.
Founder and group managing director Keir Edmonds said: “Developing our new state-of-the-art headquarters in Warwick is a major investment in the future of our business and our workforce.
“It’s a clear statement of intent and demonstrates how ambitious we are to grow the company by delivering projects of the highest quality. Our new offices will allow us to showcase our expertise in commercial construction whilst providing a gateway statement headquarters building on to the Opus 40 site.”
He added: “We are market leaders in the motor retail sector but we are becoming increasingly well known for our expertise in delivering major projects in industrial, storage and distribution. That’s where we see a major opportunity to win substantial levels of new business and establish ourselves as one of the leading main contractors in the sector.”
MCS Group is currently constructing several warehouse units at sites across the UK and has recently won contracts in Swindon, Kettering, Lutterworth, Hatfield and Bristol. The company has built and refurbished more than 300 car dealerships including Audi, BMW, Mclaren and Jaguar Land Rover since its inception in 2003.
The company recently received a hat-trick of accolades. It was named by the London Stock Exchange as one of the 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain. It also won an award at the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 ceremony in London. MCS Group was recently recognised as a growth star when it came fourth in the Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Barometer – a league table of the fastest growing businesses in the county.
