DTZ in Manchester, part of UGL Services, leading a multi-disciplinary team including Taylor Young, Regeneris and Curtins Consulting, has been commissioned to prepare a Growth Strategy and Spatial Framework to guide the future development and maximise the economic growth potential of Trafford Park. The work will focus on Trafford Park and the adjoining areas of the Trafford Centre, Pomona, Manchester United Football Club and MediaCity:UK as well as considering linkages to adjacent areas including The Quays and the City Centre.
Trafford Park is the largest industrial estate in the north west and one of the largest in Europe. Given the Park’s economic importance to the City Region and beyond, it has been selected as one of just eight Business Led Neighbourhood Plan frontrunner areas nationally as part of the emerging localism agenda.
Martin Douglas at Cargill and Chair of Trafford Park Business Neighbourhood Shadow Management Board stated: “The Business Neighbourhood Growth Strategy will enable Trafford Park to achieve its tremendous potential in terms of business investment and sustainable economic growth for both the Manchester City Region and the wider north west area.
It will set out a sound framework to reinvigorate the ambitions for Trafford Park shared by Trafford Park businesses, major landowners and other key partners”
The Growth Strategy will aim to ensure that Trafford Park is able to maximise and deliver its true potential as a successful and sustainable business location by meeting the demands of a diverse range of sectors and supporting competitive businesses; improving transport and critical infrastructure; and enhancing marketing and promotion of the Park.
Nick Gerrard, Corporate Director Economic Growth and Prosperity at Trafford Council confirmed: “Trafford Council and the Trafford Park Business Neighbourhood Shadow Board are pleased to announce the appointment of DTZ and their team. Trafford Park is a critical economic priority for Trafford, Greater Manchester and the north west and we are confident they will develop a robust and effective framework that will help to unlock growth in Trafford Park.”
Caroline Baker, Director at DTZ and lead director for the commission stated: “Our team is really excited about working with the Trafford Park businesses and Trafford Council to harness Trafford Park’s opportunities and identify a strategy to overcome its challenges. This will ensure that Trafford Park’s economic prosperity can be maximised for the benefit of Trafford, the City Region, and Greater Manchester.”
