Multi-utilities connections specialist, Energetics, has affirmed its commitment to the region as it celebrates the success of its Midlands office and depot. At an event to officially open its Coleshill premises in North Warwickshire, the company announced that the number of staff it employs in the region has increased tenfold over the past two years, and turnover in the Midlands is on track to overtake its Scotland and North West-based regional operations in the next three years.
An independent company which owns and operates almost than 1,200 utility networks across the UK, Glasgow-based Energetics first set up home in the region in Halesowen in 2010. Due to expansion, additional space was quickly identified and the company relocated to a 15,645 sq ft warehouse/ office unit at Roman Park on Coleshill Industrial Estate at the end of 2011, creating a new hub for its regional operations in the heart of the UK.
Ken Stewart, Director of Energetics, explained why he believed the company has experienced such early success in the region. “We really have got off to a flying start in the Midlands, with the team here growing from two full time employees to over 28.” Ken said.
“Strategically, the Midlands is very important to Energetics, and our focus on the region is set to continue as we strengthen our existing relationships in both the industrial and commercial and housing sectors. While any expansion plans must be carefully managed in the current economic climate, we certainly intend to make the most of favourable conditions for growth that exist here in the Midlands.
“The region’s size, its connectivity, and the commitment to attracting inward investment as a catalyst for construction and development that we have seen in the region make the Midlands an ideal location for Energetics. And while it currently accounts for 10 per cent of turnover in the business, our forecast shows that our Coleshill office and depot could well overtake our Scotland and North West-based operations in around three years.”
Since arriving in Coleshill, Energetics has secured a raft of contracts to design, build and connect the multi-utility networks for a wide range of projects. Among the most high profile appointments in the industrial and commercial sector is the £1 million contract awarded to Energetics by Network Rail to provide a new high voltage energy supply to New Street Station, as part of the £600 million New Street Gateway project.
In the housing sector, Energetics has recently been appointed on the landmark Tansey Green development in Solihull. The project will see Energetics design, build and connect the electricity, gas and water utility mains and service connections for 334 new homes.
Elsewhere in the Midlands, the company is also currently providing the energy infrastructure and connections for more than 300 new homes at Akron Gate – a new residential development on the former Goodyear site in Wolverhampton.
The company, which has pledged its support for the construction, housebuilding and engineering industries in the region, has already forged links with key organisations across the Midlands. Earlier this year Energetics was announced as headline sponsor of the West Midlands 2012 Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) May Ball; and it has shown its backing for the WMCCE West Midlands Constructing Excellence Awards 2012 as Souvenir Brochure Sponsor of the event which took place earlier this month.
“We believe the time is right for a company such as Energetics to start challenging the monopoly operators in the region, and to prove that the provision of utility service connections does not have to be overcomplicated and inflexible,” Ken continued.
“At Energetics we simply set out to make life easier for customers. Not only do we design, build and own the utility networks, we also project manage the whole process efficiently and effectively. We strongly believe in this alternative approach to multi-utilities and it underpins our success in the Midlands and beyond.”
To officially open its Midlands office and depot and to celebrate its early success, Energetics recently hosted a drinks reception at the Coleshill premises. Director Ken Stewart was joined by guest speakers Dan Byles, MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth, and Tim Collins, Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Home Builders Federation (HBF), to address an audience of customers and business contacts.
Headquartered in Glasgow, Energetics also has a regional office and depot in Warrington, enabling it to serve and deliver across the UK.
