Leading property consultancy CBRE has announced it has secured space in The Silver Fin Building on Union Street in Aberdeen on behalf of Barclays plc.
The British transatlantic consumer, corporate and investment bank has taken a suite on the sixth floor extending to 3,150 sq ft on a ten year lease, relocating from its former premises in Union Plaza. It is expected to take occupation later this month.
The deal reinforces Barclays’ commitment to the Aberdeen market and will allow north east clients on the ground access to the bank’s expertise, from Business and Corporate Banking services to Wealth Management and Private Banking.
The Silver Fin Building, which was developed by Titan Investors and is owned by British Airways Pension Trustees Ltd, is one of the city’s most prestigious new office developments and aims to set new standards of Grade A office accommodation. It has a feature reception hall with a four-storey atrium and terrace facilities at the fourth floor level for occupiers.
Stuart Brown, Head of SME Scotland & Northern Ireland for Barclays, said: “Aberdeen is a key location for us and our move to The Silver Fin Building means we can continue to provide local, face to face relationship banking for our existing Agriculture, SME, Corporate and Wealth Management and Private Banking clients as well as ensuring we are future ready.
“We support a broad range of oil & gas clients and are also growing our presence in the SME market, underpinned by our increasingly extensive offering for high growth and entrepreneurial businesses. We see many new opportunities in the north east – face to face contact, education, guidance and connectivity are key to unlocking these and our new base in Aberdeen will facilitate this.”
Sean Mackenzie, a director at Titan Investors, added: “It is great news that we can confirm this letting to Barclays, one of the biggest and best-known financial institutions in the world.
“The Silver Fin Building is a high quality office development well located in Aberdeen’s city centre in close proximity to a wide range of amenities, and will be an attractive working location for Barclays’ staff. I’m sure the company will find the building to be a fitting home when it moves in later this month.”
Barclays is joining a growing list of high profile occupiers in The Silver Fin Building with existing tenants including CATS Management, Orega, Grant Thornton, Accenture and Addax Petroleum.
CBRE represented Barclays plc in the transaction whilst FG Burnett acted for Titan Investors.
