A new retail occupier for office development Capella on York Street in the heart of Glasgow’s financial district has been announced.
National coffee shop chain Caffe Nero has taken approximately 1,804 sq ft on the ground floor in Capella on a 10 years lease. The new branch will be the firm’s fifth location in the city centre, with existing units already opened at Hope Street, Buchanan Street, St Vincent Street and inside the Buchanan Galleries.
Completed in 2009, Capella boasts an exceptional location in the heart of Glasgow’s International Financial Services District (IFSD) and overlooks the River Clyde. It spans more than 100,000 sq ft of prime office and retail space and counts MacRoberts, Arrow Global, Strathclyde Pension Fund and Atos among its tenants.
Andy Cunningham, senior director from CBRE, which advises Capella’s owner Wirefox, commented on the letting: “Capella is situated in one of the city’s expanding office locations; as well as Capella’s existing workforce, the building is located directly opposite the GPU’s 198,000 sq ft office building, which is under construction, and is also next to 1 & 3 Atlantic Quay, where DWP and Scottish Courts have taken 85,000 and 80,000 sq ft respectively. We are confident Caffe Nero will benefit from the custom of these workers and will trade well when it opens in July 2018.”
6,297 sq ft of office space and 2,325 sq ft of retail space of the highest quality remains available at Capella.
