Fashion store Peacocks is opening in Crosby Village

High street fashion chain Peacocks is the latest in a raft of new occupiers who have committed to Crosby following St. Modwen’s investment in the village.

Peacocks is opening its first branch in Crosby after signing a 10-year lease on a 4,885 sq ft unit on the ground floor of 10 Moor Lane, the new building is on the site of the former Best DIY.

Originally selling home goods and basic clothing, Peacocks has been re-branded over the years as a value fashion store.

Under the new ownership of Edinburgh Woollen Mill group brand, which includes Austin Reed, Jane Norman, Jaeger and Country Casuals, Peacocks has opened a number of new stores this year.

St. Modwen, the expert developer and regeneration specialist, recognises the Peacocks move signals a confidence in the high street by the retailer and a recognition that shoppers in Crosby will welcome a value fashion shop.

Costa Coffee has also renewed its lease on unit 8 in Moor Lane in an area of the village also owned by St. Modwen.

Alastair Budd, Director of Asset Management – North for St. Modwen, said: “We are pleased to be able to make further announcements, so soon after redevelopment work has finished, that we have further occupiers signed up to move in to the new units in Crosby Village.

“The investment we have made in Crosby is helping to revitalise the village centre. We are bringing new shops, larger premises for existing retailers, office accommodation for local businesses and Costa Coffee, which are all proving very popular with occupiers and local people.”

St. Modwen got underway with the redevelopment of the Glenn Buildings and construction of 10 Moor Lane in June 2017 after acquiring the site and securing planning approval from Sefton Council for its plans to develop the 24,775 sq ft of retail, leisure and office space.

A 12-month construction and refurbishment programme finished in April and has provided larger shop units to meet the needs of modern retailers.
Peacocks is set to open in early June.

There are two newly refurbished spaces available to let. A first floor 2,500 sq ft office space and the final 2,000 sq ft retail unit, which is located between Peacocks and the Card Factory. Lambert Smith Hampton is the agent and both units are available to view.
