Altran Praxis, one of the UK’s leading systems and software houses, is relocating into new offices at Bath’s SouthGate shopping centre, resulting in one of the largest office lettings in the city for five years.
Altran Praxis, part of the Altran Group, which develops systems for clients in the transport, automotive and aerospace sectors, has taken 17,000 sq ft of new Grade A office accommodation at Second Floor, St Lawrence Court, SouthGate. The deal was brokered by property consultants Alder King and Strutt & Parker on behalf of owners Aviva Investors and Multi Development.
Currently based over three floors on Manvers Street in Bath, the move to SouthGate will give Altran Praxis more efficient open-plan working conditions over one floor, while maintaining easy access to the train station and retail and leisure amenities in the heart of the city.
The location was a key factor in securing the deal, according to Mike Greenan, Managing Director at Altran Praxis. “SouthGate provides us with modern and innovative new premises and supports our continued growth and investment in the UK” he said.
Stuart Harris, of Queensberry Real Estate representing owners Aviva Investors and Multi Development, said: “The retail and residential elements of the SouthGate scheme have been very successful. We have now built on this success by securing a major occupier for the office scheme and look forward to working with Altran Praxis over the coming weeks on the fitting out prior to their move later in the year.”
Simon Price, head of agency at Alder King, added: “This is a very significant deal which keeps one of Bath’s major office occupiers in the city. There is very limited new Grade A accommodation in Bath as evidenced by the quick take-up of this space.”
