Squab Group, the Leamington-Spa based storage, removals and van hire company, is expanding its operations into Evesham with the opening of a new facility at Asparagus Point, Vale Park.
The company, which also has a facility in Daventry, has acquired a 15,000 sq ft freehold unit at the Park from landlord Hortons’ Estate.
Hortons is constructing the unit on behalf of Squab. It is scheduled for completion in December.
The Birmingham-based family-owned property company is also speculatively building a further 39,450 sq ft of space, comprising eight smaller units ranging in size from 3,500 sq ft – 6,000 sq ft, at Asparagus Point after it was granted planning permission by Wychavon Council in April.
Richard Norgrove, property director at Hortons’ Estate, said: “Squab is a successful family –run business that is continuing to expand its footprint across the Midlands. For a business like Squab, which relies on having easy access to local transport networks,
Asparagus Point couldn’t be better positioned.
“We recognise there is a need for smaller industrial units in the area, given the lack of good quality available space and pent-up demand from occupiers, so we are committing to build a number of additional units on the site, which will be ready for occupation before the end of the year.”
Squab was set up in 2005 by the Evans family on their farm in Leamington Spa. Initially just offering storage, the business grew to include removals.
Since then, its services have expanded and now include van hire, document shredding, and business centre and conferencing facilities. Squab also operates a British Association of Removers (BAR) Accredited Training Centre.
The company employs twenty-five people at its sites in Leamington and Daventry, with up to a further five additional jobs to be created at the new site in Evesham.
Emlyn Evans from Squab said: “Evesham is an exciting place to be setting up our new branch and Asparagus Point is situated on a well-established industrial park with good transport links to other parts of the region.”
Situated on the eastern edge of Evesham in Worcestershire, Vale Park’s strategic location on the A46 links the M5 at J9 in the south with the M42 at J3 and the M5 at J15.
