After more than 10-years trading at 185 Bruntsfield Place, Falko Burkert, the German pastry chef and baker who trades as Falko (Konditormeister), will be replaced by a new Danish furniture retailer.
Nordic Living by Biehl will open in July after moving from Copenhagen to set up business in the capital having identified Bruntsfield Place as the perfect location for their inaugural premises.
In a deal brokered by the Edinburgh commercial agency branch of Allied Surveyors, a new 10-year lease has been agreed on the 1,600 sq ft unit with a private landlord at an undisclosed rent.
“This is an exciting new concept which will see modern and vintage Danish furniture design brought to Bruntsfield for the first time,” commented Allied Surveyors’ director of commercial agency (east), Iain Mercer.
“The people behind the business quickly focused on Bruntsfield as a target location and we were able to identify suitable premises on their behalf.”
In July last year Mr Burkert closed his premises in Gullane, East Lothian and relocated to a new café/restaurant unit at the George Court development in Haddington town centre.
Commenting on the recent closure of his premises in Bruntsfield, Mr Burkert said:
“The time was right for us to focus all of our attention on one location in East Lothian and we should like to wish Nordic Living by Biehl every success in Bruntsfield.”
The landlord was represented in the transaction by Links CPC.
