Property firm JLL has unveiled its newly-revamped Edinburgh office, which has undergone a significant transformation to become an ultramodern work space with technology at its heart.
JLL recently signed a new 10 year lease at 7 Exchange Place, committing to its location in the heart of Edinburgh’s Exchange District, the city’s prime commercial location.
Typically advising its own clients on how best to create workspaces of the future, JLL’s new space at 7 Exchange Place places collaboration and tech at the forefront of its design.
A showpiece collaboration zone is the focal point of the new fit out – an informal space for in-house meetings, functions and interaction between departments.
Designed with sustainability at its core, video conferencing capabilities including BlueJeans and an emphasis on other smart technology play a large part in JLL’s new fit out.
There are a number of project rooms and individual pods which are intended for staff looking for a quiet space to work, as well as a new barista quality coffee bar and kitchen area.
Clients have a dedicated area in the new office as well as full use of facilities including access to WiFi and ability to print documents.
JLL’s lead director Alasdair Humphery, said: “All companies are looking for office space that sets them apart from their competitors and helps retain the best staff. With our new office we’ve placed a big focus on technology, but also on creating a space which makes people feel confident and inspired to work with each other. Our clients are central to our business, so it made perfect sense to integrate them into the design of our office and ensure they feel at home when they visit. This reflects what JLL is doing around the world and we are thrilled that the work is now complete.
“While our new coffee machine and kitchen area has been a big hit, as we add more members to our Edinburgh team going forward, we’ll look very favourably on any applicants with past barista experience!”
In addition to the collaboration zone, the rest of the office, including a striking reception and conference rooms has undergone a similarly major renovation. Seating booths have been installed for client meetings while several formal meeting rooms have also been upgraded.
The fit-out and design of 7 Exchange Place was carried out by Insite Contracts.
