South coast law firm Ellis Jones has appointed the highly experienced Richard Tombs as a new Partner.
The property expert has more than 30 years’ experience and is now based at Ellis Jones’ Canford Cliffs branch in Poole.
He specialises in all aspects of commercial and residential property law including development and sales, leases, site acquisitions, landlord and tenant transactions and business asset sales and purchases.
Richard is the 14th Partner at the growing law firm which has five offices across the south coast, in Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs, Ringwood, Swanage and Wimborne – as well as in London.
Father of three Richard, who was born in Bournemouth and lived in Poole for many years, said: “I was trained in a busy West End solicitors’ firm at the end of the 1980s property boom.
“I decided at that point to specialise in property law and continued practising in London for a few years after qualifying.
“I moved back to Dorset in 1993 and joined Turners Solicitors where I was until my recent move.
“Ellis Jones has grown immeasurably in the last 25 years, not just in terms of size but stature and breadth of representation.
“They have become the go-to firm in the local area and beyond with a deserved reputation for quality, reliability and an approachable down to earth style.
“This is not a snooty suity firm but a firm of committed professionals willing and able to help commercial and non-commercial clients alike.
“I like the fact that many of the partners and fee earners driving the firm are in their thirties with ambitions and ideas which are listened to and embraced.
“Ellis Jones seems to debunk the old traditions of a solicitors firm managed by its oldest partners with a limited eye on the future.
“The Canford Cliffs office is well positioned in the heart of the Branksome Park, Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs areas and it suits both business and private clients very well and continues to offer the services most wanted.
“The reality is that with modern electronic communications it really does not matter where you are located but Ellis Jones favour the personal touch and the value of face to face contact between clients and solicitors cannot be dismissed.”
Nigel Smith, Managing Partner, said: “Bringing in Richard as Partner means we have another 30 years’ experience in property law.
“Richard is a hugely respected figure within our profession and we’re delighted to welcome him on board.”
