The Mid-Counties Co-operative has been announced as the anchor tenant of the Homelands office and retail park in Bishops Cleeve, near Cheltenham.
Gloucestershire property agents John Ryde Commercial have secured the 3,000 sq ft initial letting and are now marketing the development’s remaining three units.
The Mid-Counties Co-operative’s new supermarket will form part of a new “village square” being constructed by Cheltenham-based developers County to County Property Group.
The new store is scheduled to open in November 2018 and follows the success of the Mid-Counties Co-operative’s flagship new supermarket in Bourton-on-the-Water which was named one of the best stores in Europe and the best in England by retail experts IGD which included it in its “Top 14 Stores to see in Europe” awards.
Paul Maguire, partner at John Ryde Commercial, said: “This is a major signing for Homelands and will serve the area’s 14,000 residents and two new major residential extensions north of Bishops Cleeve which have seen the addition of over 1,000 new dwellings either side of the A46.”
The remaining units include B1 offering 1,511 sq ft, B2, 932 sq ft and the largest unit on site, C which is 5,126 sq ft.
Mr Maguire said: “The development has a flexible planning permission which opens up a host of opportunities for office and retail use.
“This could include commercial use as shops, offices, a nursery, medical or veterinary facilities, and we are open to discussions on innovative uses that complement the needs of the growing local population.”
The development sits within the area of new residential development and is located at the corner of Gotherington Lane and The Avenue, linking though to the A46 Cheltenham to Evesham Road.
