A Midlands office fit out and refurbishment specialist has scooped a prestigious national industry award for its super-considerate approach to construction.
The project for a new Norwich city base for partnership homes developer, Lovell, was carried out by Overbury and has been named one of this year’s Most Considerate Sites by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
The title – awarded to only six construction schemes nationally – recognises the project as demonstrating the highest levels of consideration and care for the community, the environment and the workforce.
Birmingham-based Overbury was awarded the national title for its creation of modern new premises for Lovell at the Broadland Business Park, Norwich.
The Considerate Constructors judges praised the way the Overbury site team “pulled out all the stops to forge meaningful links with neighbouring businesses and the wider community”.
Community benefits delivered by the site team included providing a heavy duty fixed bicycle repair facility for use by local cyclists. Overbury was also praised for its “huge dedication” to safety.
Overbury managing director, Andrew Wood, said: “To be the best performing site in this category is an exceptional achievement and I couldn’t be more delighted for site manager Mark Smith, and the whole project team. This award recognises the amount of effort that goes into ensuring that our projects have a positive impact for clients and their neighbours.”
Lovell and Overbury are both part of leading construction and regeneration company, Morgan Sindall Group plc. Lovell moved into the new office base in October 2017.
Lovell regional managing director, Simon Medler, said: “Our new offices have made a big difference, delivering the extra space and state-of-the-art accommodation we needed to enable the company’s continuing expansion locally.
“We’re all thrilled that the Overbury team’s professionalism and community-centred approach has been recognised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.”
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.
Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the scheme and agree to abide by a code of considerate practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
Considerate Constructors Scheme chief executive, Edward Hardy, said: “I would like to offer my very special congratulations to the winners of the 2018 Most Considerate Sites accolade, demonstrating the very best in considerate construction and setting the bar incredibly high for the rest of the industry to strive to achieve.”
Overbury was recently appointed to design the interiors and fit out the historic Staffordshire headquarters of the InterContinental Hotels Group.
The fit out and refurbishment specialist will also deliver a new flagship national resource centre for trainee opticians at Aston Cross Business Village, on behalf of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians.
