A specialist sewer and drain clearance company has relocated its headquarters in the Black Country as part of a major investment and expansion programme by its parent group.
DSS Environmental, which works for water utility companies and their framework partners, has taken a 10,402 sq ft base at the Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties Ltd (LCP).
The move has allowed DSSE to bring its operations, tankers and other specialised vehicles on to one site together with 80 employees from its 160-strong workforce. DSSE has also opened a new depot in Coventry with 40 new jobs created to support a water utility contract.
The company operates a wide range of water jetting machinery to carry out its work which includes cleaning, clearing, repairing and surveying the UK’s sewer network.
DSS Environmental is one of three companies in the Industrial Water Jetting Systems Group which has been providing waste management and industrial cleaning services across the UK for 35 years.
Christopher Stewart, managing director of IWJS Group, said: “Our previous site in Dudley was more fragmented and we had to keep some of our vehicles at a separate location. The move to Pensnett has given us better working conditions on a well managed and secure estate where we can operate 24/7”.
“The estate’s location and proximity to road and motorway links was also a consideration so we can serve the needs of our biggest clients”.
“We are investing heavily in our infrastructure, our depots and equipment to maintain our position as one of the leading businesses within the industrial cleaning and waste management sector. The Group’s turnover is expected to be £30 million this year.”
The 185 acre Pensnett Estate is one of the largest secure industrial estates in Europe and home to almost 200 businesses. Accommodation available to let ranges from offices of 111 sq ft to warehouse and production units of up to 36,525 sq ft.
Owner LCP is based there and is one of the UK’s largest private owners of industrial and retail property. Its total commercial property portfolio in excess of 14 million sq ft is held for long term investment purposes.
