Jonathan Carmalt, JLL’s head of office agency in Birmingham, has been appointed chairman of the Birmingham Office Market Forum (BOMF).
He takes the reins from CBRE’s Ashley Hancox. Scott Rutherford, a partner and head of Cushman & Wakefield’s national office agency team, is BOMF’s new deputy chairman.
The organisation, founded in 2007, co-ordinates take-up and stock availability statistics for Birmingham’s office market. Its unique approach to market collaboration – whereby all the city’s office brokers pool their data – has spawned copycat forums in other regional centres, including Manchester, Bristol and Leeds.
Jon is one of BOMF’s original founders, and has been responsible for collating the data and issuing the statistics on a quarterly basis since the organisation was established.
The new appointments coincide with the publication of the BOMF map, produced by Core Marketing, and now in its tenth edition.
The map features all Grade A office developments with space to let in Birmingham’s central office core. For the first time, details of the office development pipeline are also included.
Jonathan said: “Birmingham’s office market is recognised as being one of the most transparent UK office markets, a fact appreciated by investors and occupiers alike when considering the city. That is testament to the cooperation of the member firms over many years and I’m honoured to have been chosen by my peers as the next chairmen during this exciting period of unprecedented development activity in Birmingham.”
