Australian homewares retailer House will launch its sixth UK store at intu Chapelfield in Norwich as it works with owner intu to expand across the country.
75 new House stores are planned for the UK over the next three years and the retailer is in talks to open at more intu shopping centres following its arrival at intu Chapelfield this summer. Its first physical shops and online store HouseUK.com all launched over here last month.
intu Chapelfield regularly attracts popular and upcoming brands to the east of England for the first time and House’s 2,441 sq ft store will sit alongside other international retailers like Hollister, Smiggle and Timberland. British accessories brand Skinnydip opened one of its first bricks-and-mortar stores there last year as part of a national roll-out at intu shopping centres.
Across the rest of the country, intu is working with brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria’s Secret and Lovisa to launch more UK stores.
House is passionate about cooking, dining and entertaining with an ambition is to become the ‘go-to’ destination for people who share this passion. More than 4,000 homeware items will initially be on offer including cookware, bakeware, glassware, kitchen gadgets, small electrical appliances, table linens and accessories.
House executive chairman and CEO Steven Lew said: “We are working with intu to bring more House stores to the UK’s best shopping destinations. intu Chapelfield’s high footfall and wide catchment area will make it the perfect location for us to reach millions more customers in the east of England.”
“Our expansion will be very much opportunity-led, and our strategy is to create a sustainable operation that prioritises being best-in-class, over being the biggest. Being the biggest is a flow on from having the best all round offering.”
Rebecca Ryman, regional managing director at intu, said: “House will be a welcomed addition to intu Chapelfield’s popular line-up of retailers who have all selected the centre as the ideal destination to attract new customers and flourish within the east of the UK.”
“The combination of intu’s high footfall and unique experiences are making our centres attractive to both international and national retailers as they invest in more physical space across the country.”
American footwear and outdoor clothing retailer Timberland is also opening a new store at intu Chapelfield this summer, expanding into a 2,750 sq ft unit following the success of its original shop.
