High street retailer Rieker Shoes has opened a store in Bristol’s Broadmead after securing new premises in a deal brokered by leading property consultancy JLL.
JLL is the letting agent for the retail unit at 85 Broadmead in Bristol city centre, which is owned by ThamesLand and has been vacant for over five years.
Rieker Shoes, an international retailer, has taken 1,500 sq ft of space as part of its plans for growth. It is has been fitted out and the business has now opened following its relocation from The Horsefair.
Will Duckworth, senior surveyor at JLL in Bristol, said: “It is positive to see Rieker Shoes growing at a time when some parts of the high street are struggling and it shows that there is still demand for this pitch in the city centre as an alternative to Cabot Circus. With the development proposals for Broadmead having recently moved a step forward, the future is looking bright for this area and no doubt we’ll be seeing further retailers attracted into this part of the city as a result.”
Rieker Shoes currently has 23 retail stores and concessions throughout the UK and provides shoes and accessories to over 9,000 independent retailers throughout the globe.
David Lawton, head of retail at Rieker, said: “We are very pleased to have taken the unit. We have found the transaction straightforward and JLL have been supportive and professional throughout.”
