One of the world’s leading hotel companies has appointed Overbury to fit out its historic offices in Staffordshire.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the company behind popular brands Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn, is set to refurbish 60,000 sq ft of office space across three floors at its Burton-Upon-Trent site.
The interior of the building in Branston, which houses some of the organisation’s support functions, will be completely re-designed to create a new modern workspace that reflects the diverse nature of IHG’s workforce.
IHG has appointed refurbishment and fit out specialist Overbury to design the interiors and deliver the fit out scheme. Work will be undertaken with IHG staff in situ and is scheduled for completion later this year.
Michele Clifton, account manager – office design at Overbury’s Birmingham-based Central team, said: “We are honoured to have been chosen to deliver a project of such importance for IHG at its ancestral home in Burton.
“IHG is a company that invests a lot of time and resources in ensuring that it creates the best possible working environments for its employees.
“Overbury’s design reflects IHG’s need to create spaces that make provision for this multi-skilled workforce whilst being attractive to new talent joining the business.”
IHG traces its origins back to 1777 when William Bass first opened a brewery in the town. The business later transformed from domestic brewer into a global hospitality company and has more than 5,300 hotels in nearly 100 countries.
IHG has been accredited as a Top Employer for corporate employees in the UK for four consecutive years, in recognition of its exceptional employee environments, with a focus on nurturing and developing talent across the organisation.
Mel Amphlett, HR Manager, Europe & Global Corporate Functions, IHG, said: “At IHG we put huge effort into making our business a great place to work. We have a long history in Branston, with some of our existing talent working here for many years.
“Our aim is to ensure we nurture our people with training and development, whilst attracting new blood to the teams. Having the right work environment reflects our strategy and we are delighted to be working with Overbury on this exciting project.”
Overbury has recently won a hat-trick of fit out projects at Birmingham’s iconic 55 Colmore Row in the heart of the city’s business district.
The fit out and refurbishment specialists have delivered or are in the process of completing projects for three high-profile occupiers including Pinsent Masons.
