Acting on behalf of Johnsons Cars Limited, Colliers International’s Automotive & Roadside division has disposed of Johnsons former Volvo dealership, on Clive Road in Redditch, to McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles Limited for in excess of £1m per acre.
The property, which sat on a site of 0.8 acres, was the first dealership acquired by Johnsons Cars when they started trading in 1999. It was closed following a relocation of the business to Solihull
John Roberts, Head of Automotive and Roadside at Colliers International commented: “McCarthy and Stone has acquired the land to construct a much needed retirement development in the area. This sale demonstrates that there is a good level of interest for sites suitable for alternative uses.”
In early 2017 Colliers also acquired the former Cotswold Gloucester BMW dealership on behalf of Johnsons to again accommodate the relocation of their Volvo business from directly opposite on Cole Avenue. This property will start trading from 1st May illustrating their commitment to the Volvo brand. The old Volvo showroom in Gloucester will now be refranchised by Johnsons as their fifth Mazda dealership.
