Sancta Maria Hospital has been granted planning permission for their brand-new private hospital in SA1, Swansea. The planning permission was granted by Swansea Council’s planning committee for the purpose-built hospital, which is expected to treat around 3,000 people a year.
The hospital currently operates from a site in the Uplands area of Swansea. Moving to new, purpose built facilities will ensure Sancta Maria continues to provide a full range of medical services and maintain its position as a leading independent hospital, whilst creating employment opportunities in the region. The new hospital will be equipped to undertake a significantly enhanced range of services with cutting edge medical equipment including the latest generation MRI scanner, digital x-ray room and diagnostic ultrasound and cardiology suite.
Stuart Hammond, Hospital Director of HMT Sancta Maria Hospital comments: “We are delighted that the planning permission has been granted by Swansea Council today and we’re very excited for the build to commence. Building a brand new, purpose-built hospital will ensure we continue to provide world-class medical care and treatment and maintain our position as one of Wales’ best performing independent hospitals.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Sancta Maria hospital is passionate about putting the patient first and we are committed to developing a five-star hospital which will set new standards in clinical care and patient experience in South West Wales.”
