An investment of more than one million pounds to rebrand and transform Brunel, the largest landmark office building in Cardiff city centre at 225,000 sq. ft., has been completed by the owner, Castleforge Partners. A striking new external foyer has been created and a two-storey glass atrium now mirrors the extensive glazing of the building. The reconfigured entrance leads to a concierge area, a coffee bar and a business lounge with an informal meet-and-greet area in the mezzanine level overlooking the foyer.
The enhanced layout compliments further recent investment in high quality office refurbishments throughout the building, providing naturally light and airy accommodation with far-reaching views across the city to Cardiff Bay and beyond.
A launch party to celebrate the completed works was held in January attended by guests from the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council, joint letting agents Cooke & Arkwright and Knight Frank, managing agents Savills, project managers Tuffin Ferraby Taylor LLP and a host of Cardiff commercial office agents.
Rachael Pittaway of Castleforge Partners said, “We are delighted with the refurbishment works. Brunel now offers one of the most impressive office receptions in Cardiff. There is nothing else available in the market that offers this level of quality at this affordable price point.”
Tim Lawley, Associate Director in Business Space with Cooke & Arkwright added, “Brunel is now 93% occupied and just 16,380 sq. ft. of floor space remains available on the ground and fifth floors. Refurbished Grade B office space is in short supply in the city centre and it is great that Castleforge have risen to the challenge for landlords to enhance and refurbish existing stock to help ease market supply.”
Mark Sutton, partner at Knight Frank said, “The landlord’s investment in Brunel has created a whole new arrival experience as well as top quality client facing facilities that complement the new office space. The new reception has brought the entrance inside and with the introduction of the new access control system created a much larger area for occupiers to access the building and for visitors to interact with reception.”
Brunel is popular with key office occupiers including Legal & General, Admiral Insurance, HM Revenue & Customs, ICC Property Law and Regus. Tenants also enjoy access to 24-hour on-site security, a fitness centre and a crèche, a business centre, shower facilities, a total of 126 parking spaces and on-site secure bicycle parking.
