Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has been instrumental in a Swansea company purchasing a new HQ so it can fulfil its expansion and staff recruitment plans.
Unit 6 Europa Way, a 17,416 sq ft detached building, has been bought by Cycle Solutions for £660,000. LSH acted on behalf of an international investor in negotiating the long leasehold sale of the former Benjamin Roberts premises.
Employing 35 staff, Cycle Solutions is the largest independent supplier of bikes to anyone whose employers participate in the government’s Cycle to Work Scheme, an initiative that encourages working people to get bikes tax-free.
The company has been based in a shared facility in Fforestfach since the business was set up in 2006. It is set to relocate its entire office, assembly, warehouse and distribution operations in May after the property has undergone some refurbishment.
“We are confident the move to our own facility will give us room for growth as we look to take on between 10 and 15 new staff in a variety of roles over the next 12 months,” says Cycle Solutions MD Keith Jones.
Cycle Solutions supplies businesses and organisations all over the UK with bikes for their employees as it is a benefit that can save staff up to 40 per cent on bikes and accessories.
“The initiative is growing in popularity, encouraging a fit, healthy and perhaps even a more productive workforce plus it’s a great reward to offer to staff,” he adds.
The sale of the property was completed within a few months of the national commercial property consultants coming on board as marketing agents explains Jason Thorne, one of LSH’s directors: “This is the ideal base for Cycle Solutions. It is close to junction 47 of the M4, has been fitted out to a high standard, and it offers an equal split of office and industrial accommodation which is both attractive and unusual in the south west Wales area.”
“LSH showed us a number of options, making sure that our needs could be matched to what was available on the market and, once we had found the right property, they negotiated terms that we are very happy with,” continues Keith.
“As a business with ambitions for growth, the decision to buy rather than lease has certainly given us more control when it comes to how we can adapt and use the space to support our long-term needs and strategy.”
Other big-name companies choosing the area as a base include Lewes Pies, Hurns Brewing, Securicor and Gravells Kia.
