A property agency in Peterborough is calling on high-quality retailers to get on board at Fletton Quays and be part of the buzz surrounding the city’s new, flagship, waterside development.
Fletton Quays is being developed on the south bank of the river, opposite the Embankment area of the city centre and the Key Theatre leisure complex. The new development will have a significant element of leisure amenity too in hosting a 150-bed hotel and a working distillery with visitor centre.
It is a mixed-use development with up to 60,000 sq ft of office space in addition to the City Council HQ. Fletton Quays will have parking for over 400 vehicles, as well as the residential parking for the planned 400 new residential units.
Barker Storey Matthews believes that Fletton Quays could prove a turnkey project in unlocking the real estate potential of this city centre part of the River Nene.
Julian Welch, Director, Barker Storey Matthews is based in the Peterborough office and is the property agency’s retail expert in the area. He feels that it is high-quality retailers or food and beverage operators who will be attracted to the latest pair of new-build units which are in the first wave of commercial units now available to lease at Fletton Quays.
He explains, “In modern times, the river has been one of Peterborough’s greatest untapped resources when it comes to regenerative development.
“Many people here have long wanted to see more made of the Nene as a spine running through Peterborough city centre and the surrounding area, pointing to the crucial role waterside development has played in the regeneration of other cities such as Lincoln, Liverpool or Manchester.
“Fletton Quays sets down a marker for future development of Peterborough city centre’s riverside sites.
Barker Storey Matthews is the sole agent on two new-build retail units in the centre of the main piazza area of the Fletton Quays development and the units are now being offered to let in readiness for fit out this summer (2018).
Each retail unit is 1,670 sq ft (155.14 sq m) and are adjacent to Peterborough City Council’s brand new headquarters office building.
