Two JLL-managed shopping centres have been recognised for their commitment to sustainability on a global scale, after winning Gold and Bronze awards at the Green World Environment Awards held in Dubai.
Representatives from the Dolphin Centre, Poole and Golden Square in Warrington attended the prestigious international ceremony – which is now recognised as the largest environmental awards in the world – which took place on Monday, 11 December.
The global awards for the two shopping destinations come on the back of 26 JLL-managed commercial properties being awarded top honours in the UK’s Green Apple Environmental Awards earlier this year.
Dolphin was named the Gold Award winner and Golden Square received the Bronze Award in the Shopping Centre category, rewarding both schemes’ significant efforts in sustainability and waste management.
Jordan Jeffery, Head of Retail Management, JLL Property and Asset Management UK said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive these two global awards in respect of the Dolphin and Golden Square shopping centres. We see both the Green Apples and the World Green Apples as recognition for the best in class sustainability approach we employ as part our overall property management service.”
Andries van der Walt, Head of Sustainability, JLL Property and Asset Management UK, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for everyone at both centres to be recognised on a global scale at the top environmental awards in the world. It demonstrates the hard work, training, planning, good communication and teamwork from everyone involved to make such an improvement on the environmental impact of both centres.
“To have 26 commercial properties that JLL manages recognised in the Green Apple Awards in September was a great triumph for us as an organisation. With Dolphin Centre and Golden Square both being acknowledged at this global level, it further demonstrates and underlines JLL’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. The awards continue to put us in the frame as a world leader in the commercial sector for impact on the environment.”
Richard Batten, Global Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, said: “The built environment contributes 40% of the world’s carbon emissions, so if we are to combat climate change property owners and managers have a big part to play. We’re proud to be able to partner with forward-thinking clients such as Dolphin Centre and Golden Square owners Legal & General and LaSalle Investment Management respectively, to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the commercial and residential buildings we manage across the globe.”
