A civil engineering company has taken on its first apprentice and expanded into new office space at the Wilton Centre, Teesside’s premier science and business park.
Lynas Engineers has taken 360 sq ft of serviced office space at the Wilton Centre and appointed Tom Hustwitt as an apprentice. Established in October 2016 by Rob Lynas, the company has grown quickly to a total of four experienced engineers, plus its new apprentice, taking on more office space with each new appointment.
In its first year, Lynas Engineers, which provides engineering design services for infrastructure, highways and drainage, has won work from a number of clients including Middlesbrough Council, South Tyneside Council and Linden Homes and expects to continue its rapid rate of growth next year (2018).
Mr Lynas says: “2017 has been very good for us. We’ve won some excellent clients and grown quickly and we are confident 2018 can be as good.”
Mr Lynas founded Lynas Engineers after his previous employer closed the Teesside office he was managing. He says: “I chose the Wilton Centre for my new office because it has flexible accommodation, there are no worries about IT and telephones, and there are good on-site facilities, meeting rooms and car parking.
“To be honest after I attended a couple of events there, I did not look anywhere else. It’s also home to the process industry cluster, and the base for NEPIC, so next year we hope to start doing business with some of our fellow occupiers.”
“Lynas Engineers’ success in just one year is an excellent example of how businesses can grow from one desk or a small office at the Wilton Centre,” says Steve Duffield, Site Director at the Wilton Centre. “Using our serviced offices means companies can focus on doing business, not sorting out issues with their accommodation.”
Stephen Brown, Senior Partner at Middlesbrough-based Dodds Brown is the letting agent for the office space at the Wilton Centre. He says: “Wilton Centre is the one of the best office locations in Teesside for all sizes and types of organisation. In addition to excellent on-site facilities and support, it has first class transport connections, with a quick link to the A19 and the national road network.”
Wilton Centre is a leading, privately-owned science and business park located in the heart of Teesside just five minutes’ drive from Middlesbrough. It offers a range of flexible office space from individual workstations located within a spacious shared office environment, to flexible small offices, many adjacent to laboratory space, to full floors or blocks of premier office accommodation, at competitive rental terms with immediate occupancy. Set in a 75 acre landscaped site, it has its own lake and boasts 1,600 free car parking spaces.
