Child bereavement and support charity 2 Wish Upon A Star has moved to a new office in Llantrisant as the charity grows to meet increasing demand for its services.
Formerly based in Miskin Manor Business Centre, the charity founded by Rhian Burke in 2012 supports the families and loved ones cope with the sudden loss of a child.
After celebrating five years of the charity at the Senedd earlier this month, 2 Wish Upon A Star has now moved into the 1,200 square foot office based in Magden Park, Llantrisant.
Speaking of the move, founder and CEO Rhian Burke said: “The move has been essential in ensuring we continue to support families across the whole of Wales in the most efficient way possible. The last five years has been an incredibly challenging time and I want to thank everyone who has believed in 2 Wish and helped us grow the charity into what it is today.
“We’ve met some amazing professionals and some amazing families, and knowing that George’s life has meant so much, that his legacy will continue to help other people, means the world to me.
“The charity has gone from strength to strength thanks to the community, our staff and our wonderful volunteers.
As well as moving to a larger office, which is a stone’s throw from the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, the charity has appointed Francesca Hourihan as Community Fundraiser. Fran will play a vital role in moving the charity forward, overseeing fundraising activities that will allow the charity to broaden its support for families in need.
Additionally, the new addition will allow the team to continue to work with health boards across Wales with the aim of equipping every hospital with a bereavement suite, providing immediate support to all parents who lose a child suddenly.
2 Wish Upon A Star was first established in 2012 by founder Rhian Burke to raise money for the improvement of bereavement services for families who have suffered the sudden loss of a child. The money raised for the charity goes towards helping those who are in need of immediate shock and trauma support and to improve the bereavement facilities in local hospitals and Accident and Emergency departments.
