The owners of Birmingham’s landmark Brindleyplace development have appointed a delivery partner to undertake the comprehensive £4 million refurbishment of the Oozells Building.
Formerly Nine Brindleyplace, the 51,700 sq ft Oozells Building – renamed to reflect the award-winning namesake square which it overlooks – will undergo the extensive programme of works which will see upgrades delivered across both its interior and exterior spaces.
Artemis Interiors has been selected as delivery partner following a competitive tender process and will now begin the refurbishment which is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
Brindleyplace is asset managed by Hines UK on behalf of the estate owners, a client of HSBC Alternative Investments, who acquired the portfolio earlier this year.
Raj Rajput, Hines UK, said: “The Oozells Building represents a unique proposition for Brindleyplace in terms of its size and configuration. The renaming of the building in line with the quality and breadth of the refurbishment programme perfectly encapsulates the Brindleyplace ethos of continual development and evolution of the spaces and amenities.
“With an outstanding track record, we feel that Artemis Interiors is an ideal partner who can assist in delivering our vision for this statement building.”
The refurbishment programme will see significant upgrades to the building’s interior spaces, including vacant offices suites and common areas, along with the main reception which will be further enhanced by a repositioned and expanded entrance and new furniture.
Externally, the Oozells Building will receive new cladding, lighting and signage, and both the first floor courtyard – accessed from Oozells Square – and private fourth floor roof terrace will be developed for occupiers with new planters and seating.
Tony Martin, Artemis Interiors, said: “This is a great appointment, with a clear vision for the refurbishment of the building and some truly exciting design opportunities. The Oozells Building represents a statement space at Brindleyplace and through this programme we will deliver an enhanced, contemporary working environment.”
Joint letting agents at Brindleyplace are GVA and Savills and there is currently only 29,500 sq ft of space available to let in the building across the fourth, third and part of the second floors.
