Dominvs Group, the real estate investment, development and asset management company, has unveiled The Dixon, a boutique style hotel part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels portfolio. Opening Autumn 2018 in Tower Bridge, The Dixon is the latest hotel to join Dominvs Hospitality, which encapsulates the company’s ambitious plans to drive the boutique hotel sector forward.
The Dixon, situated on popular Tooley Street, is set to become a new cultural hub for the capital’s artisans. The Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and the diverse cultural offering of the new Bridge Theatre are all just a few minutes walk.
Originally designed as a Magistrates’ Court and police station in 1905 by John Dixon Butler, the building will undergo an extensive restoration to regenerate its grand original features, including its spectacular courthouse. Work at the hotel is being undertaken by contractors McAleer & Rushe, which is one of the UK’s largest design and build construction companies, and this project continues their strong relationship with Dominvs Group. The two companies have previously worked together on the design and construction of two hotels at Aberdeen Airport, as well a 298-bedroom property in Manchester City Centre.
The hotels 193 rooms, including 9 spacious suites, will redefine the traditional boutique hotel by seamlessly incorporating the local neighbourhood’s culture through an artful mix of heritage and contemporary design. Cleverly reflecting the building’s purpose as a courtroom, the Courthouse café will serve as a neighbourhood oasis that will welcome not only hotel guests but also the local trade.
Interior design by twenty2degrees will showcase a passion for art and uncompromising style that cleverly walks the line between old and new. Design details include simple brickwork, large windows and modern furniture from British designers alongside more classic pieces and curated artworks from local artists. All rooms will feature abundant natural light with state-of- the-art technology, including smart TVs and complimentary ultra-fast Wi-Fi.
The Dixon’s support of local art will extend beyond its walls with a diverse cultural programme. Carefully selected by the hotel’s Cultural Committee, guests will have special access to the local theatres and studios surrounding its Tooley Street location.
Jay Ahluwalia, on behalf of Dominvs Group said: “Travellers no longer want just a comfortable night’s stay, they want to be immersed in the local community. The Dixon will offer a unique take on the boutique hotel experience offering guests a neighbourhood feel in the heart of the capital.”
