St John’s College, its development partner Turnstone and contractor VINCI Construction UK are celebrating a major milestone in the development of the Maurice Wilkes Building, at the gateway to St John’s Innovation Park, Cambridge.
At a recent topping out ceremony, Chris Goldsmith of Turnstone commented, “We are on schedule for completion next Summer. We have already secured lettings to Dark Trace and PwC and have another significant part under offer. It is always exciting to reach this stage of the project and we are confident of letting the remaining space before completion.”
Suzie Wood from St John’s College added, “This exciting new headquarters building is really starting to take shape. It is 30 years since we opened the St John’s Innovation Park and we are still innovating and setting new standards in the Cambridge office market.”
PricewaterhouseCoopers Services (PwC) has taken 12,195 sq ft (1,133 sq m) and award winning cyber security specialist Dark Trace 19,813 sq ft.
Work commenced on site earlier this year. The Maurice Wilkes Building will provide 64,445 sq ft of Grade 1 office space arranged over five floors, plus double-height atrium reception, 193 car parking spaces and a roof terrace measuring 2,077 sq ft.
The building is located at the centre of the North Cambridge Research and Development Cluster. St John’s Innovation Park benefits from direct access to the newly open Cambridge North train station which links in with central Cambridge and London, as well as the regional guided bus way network. St John’s Innovation Centre provides excellent meeting/conferencing facilities together with a bistro for use by the whole Park.
Letting agents for the remaining space are Savills and Carter Jonas.
