Leading property consultant CBRE has secured Italian restaurant chain Tony Macaroni as the latest tenant at the prestigious Marischal Square city centre regeneration development in Aberdeen.
The Tony Macaroni formula of authentic Italian cooking at affordable prices is already a huge success in twelve locations across Scotland including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Dundee and East Kilbride and the new restaurant will be the company’s second in the Granite City.
Tony Macaroni will join Costa, All Bar One, Prezzo, Marriott International and iconic north-east businesses Aberdeen Journals and Mackie’s at Marischal Square in a move likely to create 40 new jobs at the restaurant/bar/offices complex.
Fit-out work on the new 4,460 sq ft restaurant has started. It will feature a state-of-the-art Marana Forni wood fired pizza oven and seat up to 155 diners, including a private dining area.
Marischal Square is being delivered by urban regeneration specialists Muse Developments, working with site landowner Aberdeen City Council with Aviva Investors providing the project funding.
The addition of Tony Macaroni to Marischal Square means that five of the seven bar/restaurant spaces on site are now occupied.
The new restaurant will sit alongside the impressive ‘Poised’ sculpture by internationally renowned artist, Andy Scott, which has already been a major success with the Aberdeen public.
Muse Developments regional director, Scotland, Stephen Turner, said that adding the Tony Macaroni brand name to the tenant list at Marischal Square was another key moment for the development.
“This is a major city centre transformational project which fully supports the long-term ambitions for Aberdeen and delivers a vibrant new mixed-use development in keeping with the city’s justifiable position as one of the UK’s leading business destinations.
“It is encouraging that the team at Tony Macaroni share our vision that Marischal Square has the potential to make a long-term impact on the local economy and the fact it has chosen to add Marischal Square, Aberdeen to its list of restaurants in Scotland is a terrific endorsement of what we are trying to achieve with the project.”
Marischal Square will deliver an economic boost to the immediate area from enhanced footfall and more people working and using leisure facilities. The development includes two city centre office buildings providing 173,500 sq ft of Grade ‘A’ office space with secure parking, seven restaurants and café bars occupying the ground floor space and a 126-room Residence Inn by Marriott.
