JR Press has been delivering print services to businesses in and around Daventry since 1986. Now in its 25th year it has just purchased a brand new commercial unit on the Egerton Close development within Drayton Fields industrial estate.
Egerton Close is the first speculative commercial development in Daventry for nearly five years and the scheme comprises industrial/warehouse units of between 3,500 sq ft and 23,000 sq ft and are available on either a freehold or leasehold basis.
The developers are Daventry based JRMP Construction and Technology, who can offer a ‘fit out’ package to suit the occupier’s specific requirements.
Some units are now complete with offices, toilets, kitchen, etc. Other units have been kept as a clear shell awaiting completion and to tailor the finishing touches to the buyer or tenants specification.
Tony Drake of Drake Commercial, one of the joint agents on the development, together with Lambert Smith Hampton, comments:
“The recent changes to the building regulations require a much higher specification of construction and this is reflected in the quality of finish and the energy efficiency of the units, which will significantly reduce costs of occupation. The units offer flexibility of space and we are keen to talk to prospective purchasers and tenants who are looking to move in the next few months.”
The first unit to be completed has been taken by JR Press who moved in last month. The 3,750 sq ft unit incorporates the two-storey open plan office/studio facility in addition to the clean high tech factory floor where their print production takes place.
Geoff Fone, owner of JR Press is delighted with the unit and what the move means for their future plans: “Our 25th year is being marked with a programme of investment setting us on our path for growth over the next 10 years. A move to new premises was long overdue and we wanted to remain in Daventry to stay close to our core clients. We searched the local property market and were quick to dismiss most commercial properties available to us because they were either too small, too big or purchasing freehold was not an option. So when I heard about the new development on Egerton Close I was delighted that Daventry finally had new commercial premises available that offered the right quality of construction and flexible internal space. The sale was completed in May and the move took place in early June. With the open plan offices for our sales and design teams and factory floor space being three times larger than our older site, we’ve now got the perfect premises to cope with our expansion plans. We’ve already taken delivery of a brand new printing press which has given us increased capacity and an improved service for our clients.”
This level of investment both by commercial property developers and local businesses wishing to remain in Daventry is great for the town. The remaining available units in Egerton Close are expected to all have been sold or leased by the end of this year. Businesses in Daventry appear to have weathered the economic downturn over the last few years and are now looking to invest for the future. Geoff Fone explains how the decision to move to new premises has prompted a new strategy for the long-term development of JR Press: “The move was a perfect opportunity to re-brand the company to reflect the dedication
we have to continue to supply design and print well into the next decade. Our new image also enables us to communicate
our plans to expand the printed packaging sector of the business.
With the demand for point of sale and product packaging both locally and nationwide on the increase, we are now in the right premises, with the right branding and the right equipment to capitalise on these exciting new opportunities within the printing sector.”
The remaining units in Egerton Close on the Drayton Fields industrial estate are being jointly managed by property agents Drake Commercial and Lambert Smith Hampton.
