Discount retailer Poundstretcher has sited its latest Poundstore outlet in Worcester’s St Martin’s Quarter.
The retailer launched its new site in Unit 7 with a grand opening courtesy of the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Steve Mackay, to eager shoppers, who queued in the rain to be amongst the first through the door.
Property Consultancy Harris Lamb, based in St Mary’s Street, acted on behalf of Poundstretcher to secure the unit.
David Walton, Head of Retail, said: “St Martin’s Quarter is a perfect site for this outlet. We’d been instructed to identify a number of suitable UK-wide locations for the chain, and this two-storey site, offering 7,600 sq ft on both the ground and first floors, was a fantastic opportunity to secure a Worcester presence.
“St Martin’s Quarter had a great deal to attract the chain to it; a number of complementary retailers including Asda and Sports Direct, as well as ample car-parking. With high footfall levels, it was a great opportunity to secure a strong presence in the city.
“We are continuing to identify suitable sites around the UK and negotiate terms on Poundstretcher’s behalf as the chain continues its expansion,” he added.
