Welsh telecoms and broadband firm DataKom has announced further growth with the opening of a third office and the creation of 10 new jobs.
The company, which turned over £3million in 2016/2017, has opened a new office in Bristol, creating 10 new jobs in the next 18 months and taking its total staff headcount to more than 35.
The company was set up in 2007 by managing director Jay Ball who, then aged just 21, sold his motorbike for £3,000 to finance its start-up costs.
Ten years later, with no outside investment, the business is now headquartered at Bocam Park in Bridgend, and also has an office in Aberystwyth.
With a portfolio of more than 2,000 clients, including Aston Martin and Specsavers, the fast-growing firm is now targeting growth across the South West.
Its new Portishead base, where some of the new hires will be based, will service its growing customer base in the region.
DataKom specialises in phone systems, internet connectivity, broadband, business phone solutions and cloud services. The company is targeting a £5million turnover by 2020.
Managing director Jay Ball, who was recently named Private Sector Leader of the Year at the Leading Wales Awards, said: “DataKom’s come a long way since 2007, when I set out on this journey and singlehandedly went door to door hunting for customers.
“Since then we’ve seen continually reinvested, driven substantial growth and developed our offering to grow the customer base. The company has been through a lot of change – office moves, technological changes and different business challenges – but we’ve established ourselves as one of the fastest growing telecoms companies in Wales.
“Our 10-year anniversary is an apt point at which to embark on a new chapter, including the Bristol office opening, which has been planned for some time. The whole team is looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.”
