The former pub restaurant The Riverside Inn on Gorseinon High Street is to be given a new lease of life following its sale to a previous owner that will lead to the creation of up to 40 new jobs.
Acting on behalf of a private London-based investor, property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has sold the two-storey building to Seagers Restaurants, a family-owned restaurant group headed by local entrepreneur Chris Seager.
Seagers return to the Riverside brings its portfolio of restaurants up to three. It also owns the Bryngwyn in Llanelli and the Grill House in Waunarlwydd, Swansea, both award winning and trading successfully.
With Seagers set to implement an extensive refurbishment programme prior to a relaunch in the new year, Richard Tamplin of LSH says: “We are pleased to have helped bring the Riverside Inn back to local private ownership and looking forward to seeing what this well-respected restaurant business serves up to the market following the revamp.”
In its current state, the property spans 4,663 sq ft, has two bar areas with restaurant seating in addition to first floor office accommodation. There is considerable parking to the rear as well as a front seating area and disabled access.
Lee Seager, Operations Manager at Seagers, states: “We are confident our return and planned changes will meet a need in the local area for a quality mid-market restaurant serving up prime steaks and traditional favourites within a relaxed environment.”
Seagers attributes much of its success to the loyalty of its customers as well as the dedication of its staff many of whom have been with the company for a decade or more.
In addition to investing in the renovation and rebrand from pub to licensed restaurant, Seagers is embarking on a recruitment drive to fill some 40 full and part time roles taking its headcount across all three South West Wales establishments close to 100.
It will be drawing from a wide catchment area given the property’s prominent location on the A4240, one of the main arterial routes into Gorseinon and within just 1.8 miles from junction 47 of the M4.
Other occupiers in the local vicinity include national names Aldi, Asda, Home Bargains, Toby Carvery and ATS Euromaster.
