A major mixed-use scheme in Moseley, Birmingham, has entered the next phase of its development, as Marks & Spencer opened their new store on 27 September.
The development, prominently situated on the corner of St Mary’s Row and Oxford Road, comprises a new M&S Foodhall (13,000 sq ft) along with two adjacent retail/restaurant units and a 75-car parking facility. 14 residential flats above the ground floor commercial units complete the development.
Marshalls CDP acquired the site following advice by Alfred Bartlett, who subsequently identified M&S as an ideal operator to anchor the scheme and agreed a deal to secure them as a tenant in 2014.
Alfred Bartlett, partner at Rapleys, commented:
“This is a landmark scheme for Moseley and the surrounding local area that has significantly enhanced what was previously a dilapidated car dealership site. M&S’s occupation is a real boon for the development and we anticipate significant and continued interest in the remaining two commercial units.”
Rapleys and Fitzgerald Property Consultants continue to market the remaining units of 3,900 sq ft and 3,960 sq ft for retail and leisure use.
