A Senior Surveyor with the Specialist Markets team at CBRE in Manchester is celebrating success after leading her Group to success, picking up a coveted national award from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for the Most Outstanding Matrics Branch of the Year.
Lorna Pass chaired the Greater Manchester Branch of the RICS Matrics, which provides support, technical knowledge sessions and networking activities for property professionals at the start of, or early stages of their career. The Manchester group, under Lorna’s leadership, ran a series of 18 technical seminars covering a broad spectrum of topics, hosting more than 800 delegates and raising £7,000 for the Matrics. Throughout the year, the group also staged a number of networking activities and educational workshops held at local schools, colleges and universities which were designed to inspire the next generation of young professionals. The award recognised the Group’s contribution as champions of young surveyors in the Greater Manchester area.
The accolade was distributed by the RICS 1913 Wilderness Club, a collective group of former Matrics Chairs and RICS UK Board Members, which aims to promote junior surveyors. The award was presented by Tim Richards, Chairman of RICS Council for England, to Lorna, Chair of the RICS Matrics Greater Manchester Group, at a recent London ceremony.
Lorna Pass, Senior Surveyor at CBRE Manchester, commented:
“Part of my role this year as Chair was to create an enthusiastic Matrics committee with the same goals, to work with junior surveyors to develop local networks and further promote the RICS. I feel that we achieved this and now have a professional group of motivated committee members who have achieved many small victories.
“The year was a huge success and an achievement for the entire team. I am particularly proud and delighted to have led the team in these efforts and am thrilled to have them recognised by the RICS UK Board with this Outstanding Matrics Branch Award.”
Shaun Skidmore, Senior Director for the Specialist Markets team at CBRE, added;
“We are delighted that Lorna has been recognised with this prestigious national award, which is testament to her leadership as Chair of the Greater Manchester Matrics Group and her work in driving the strategy and team focus to support young people entering the profession. The entire team should be given a pat on the back for a fantastic year.”
Karen Rogers, ACMI Future Talent Manager at RICS, added:
“Congratulations and well done to Lorna and her team on an amazing year which is recognised by way of this award.”
