Summerfield Developments has celebrated the traditional “topping out” of its latest development of new offices for Bechtle Direct Ltd at Methuen Business Park in Chippenham.
The “topping out” is the celebration of the construction of the highest part of Turnpike House, which Bechtle Direct Ltd has taken on a new lease.
The building comprises 8,220 sq ft of accommodation, completing the final phase of Summerfield’s development of Methuen Business Park which has included Wincanton Logistics’ headquarters, Herman Miller’s European HQ and offices for Fleet Support.
Jonathan Jarman of Angus Meek architects designed Turnpike House and RG Spiller is the main contractor. The investment property has been sold by Summerfield Developments, subject to the occupational lease with Bechtle Direct Ltd.
Ben Trickey, Senior Development Surveyor for Summerfield said, “We are delighted to have reached this milestone in the process and are keen now to press on with completion of the construction; that includes the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof for generating solar electricity”.
James Gregory of Alder King and John Mulholland of Jones Lang LaSalle acted as joint agents in securing Bechtle Direct as leasehold occupiers.
James Napp, Managing Director of Bechtle Direct Ltd commented, “The building is taking shape really well and we are eager to be in occupation. The move will be a great boost for Bechtle and our staff as well as being a great place to invite our customers for seminars and events. With the efficient layout of the office, the team can continue to be highly competitive in this tight market.”
