Grade A offices in Nottingham were fully let within just four months – showing there continues to be high demand for good quality workplaces in the city centre, according to a commercial property surveyor.
Two floors in Poynt South, a period building which was refurbished into modern offices, were fully let by Innes England after just four months of being on the market. The property, in Upper Parliament Street, retains many of its original features but was sensitively updated to provide open plan self-contained office accommodation.
Laura Jardine, surveyor at the commercial property agency, managed the lettings. She said: “We started formally marketing the offices in January this year and both floors were under offer by March and April respectively, which was a quick turnaround.
“The lack of high quality, Grade A offices in Nottingham city centre is well-documented and the fact Poynt South was snapped up so quickly highlights the demand for good quality space. The office suites are very modern and open plan, giving businesses the flexibility and a blank canvas to make the spaces their own.”
Bridgewood Debt Solutions moved to Poynt South’s second floor, which totals 2,133 sq. ft., in April after previously being based in Regent Street – a typical terraced property which was converted to offices.
Director Robin Tarling said: “Being in the city centre is not essential from a client perspective but it has always been viewed as a key benefit for staff, many of whom travel in by tram or bus. So, when we started looking for new office space we wanted to stay in Nottingham.
“We really liked that the office was open plan with a modern feel while retaining some of the original features of the Boots building. The move way also very easy as it was only 200m down the road from our original space.”
Technology company VIA relocated from Castle Gate to Poynt South’s third floor – taking up 2,133 sq. ft. of space – in July as the company wanted to pave the way for future expansion.
Sales director Alex Tebbs, who co-founded the business in 2012, said: “We’d been looking for new city centre premises for a while and were immediately impressed when we viewed Poynt South – it’s twice the size of our current offices, giving us the room we need to grow. We also saw a lot of potential to put our own stamp on the open-plan space.”
Innes England is a multidisciplinary agency and manages the Axis Building, which incorporates Poynt South, on behalf of Henry Boot Developments.
