The Midlands office of leading real estate adviser, GVA is committing to raise £15,000 for good causes by undertaking two sporting challenges in September.
On Wednesday 19th September, some 43 runners will take part in the LandAid Midlands 10k, being held at Longbridge to the south of the city.
Sponsored by regeneration specialist St. Modwen, which revitalised the Longbridge area, all proceeds from the event will go towards preventing youth homelessness.
Just over a week later, a team of 28 cyclists will take part in the Birmingham Velo, a 100 mile tour along closed roads that will start in Birmingham city centre and include parts of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire countryside.
GVA’s chosen charity for 2017, Alzheimer’s Society, is also one of the causes supported by the Birmingham Velo.
Ian Stringer, Regional Senior Director in the Midlands, who will be taking part in the Velo, said: “These are two incredibly worthwhile charities. The level of take-up from across the business has been nothing short of incredible, with around 15% of our employees taking part in one or both of these great sporting challenges.
“Both of these events will be extremely challenging but we have a committed and supportive team who are raising money for two exceptionally worthy causes and I know that everyone from across the office will be cheering them on.”
LandAid is a charitable trust supported across the property industry that is committed to eradicating youth homelessness by awarding grants to small-to-medium sized charities across the UK.
Damian Lloyd, Senior Director in GVA’s Investment team and member of the Midlands LandAid board, said: “While GVA has always supported LandAid’s initiatives to help eradicate youth homelessness, it’s great that there is now an opportunity to take part in a 10k here in the Midlands. St. Modwen’s sponsorship means that every penny raised will go towards this exceedingly worthwhile cause.”
