Leading property adviser GVA has helped secure new premises for a GP practice in Keynsham, to be one of the first tenants to move into the newly redeveloped Chocolate Factory in the town.
The St Augustine’s Surgery will be relocating from its existing premises on the edge of Keynsham when its new home at the Chocolate Factory is complete following fit-out.
The specialist primary care team at GVA has been working with St Augustine’s Surgery since 2007, throughout its search for new premises. It has helped secure NHS funding, advised on the possible options for relocation, negotiated lease terms on the new premises, and will now project manage the fit-out of the new surgery.
With its new larger, modern site, the St Augustine’s Surgery will be able to offer its patients radically improved facilities from its existing Victorian-built surgery, including an increased number of consulting and treatment rooms.
St Augustine’s Surgery is taking 8,200 sq ft of space on the ground floor of block C at the Chocolate Factory from St Monica Trust.
Richard Taylor, Senior Director at GVA comments, “St Augustine’s will be one of the first tenants to move into the iconic Chocolate Factory in Keynsham, which they chose after an exhaustive search and reviewing a number of different options.”
Situated close to their existing surgery, it is convenient for existing patients, as well as being well-placed for the residents of the new housing development in the area for many years to come.
Richard continues, “St Augustine’s Surgery is not alone in choosing to relocate its practice to new premises. Many GP practices are increasingly finding that premises they have operated out of for many years are now not fit for purpose; newer and purpose-built centres are able to offer facilities far more suited to the demands of primary health provision today.”
Dr Nick Woodward, Senior Partner at St Augustine’s Medical Practice adds, “We are delighted to be moving the Keynsham branch of our practice to the Chocolate Factory. These modern premises will offer superb facilities to both our patients and staff. Whilst retaining our Saltford surgery, the new premises will offer more parking to patients and there will be a regular bus to service to Cadbury site. This is great for our patients and enables our practice to support Keynsham’s ever enlarging population.”
