Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (’Grosvenor’) has confirmed the signing of shared workspace provider Central Working for Eccleston Yards — a new hub for creative enterprise and co-working in South Belgravia. The signing confirms Grosvenor’s ambition to create a hub for innovative entrpreneurs, creative talent, start-ups and independent businesses.
Grosvenor earlier this year published a 20 year vision to transform its London estate and tackle the pressures facing the capital. The company wants its estate in Mayfair and Belgravia to work harder for its communities and all Londoners by adapting — with more active and enterprising places that appeal to everyone.
On its 4-hectare Eccleston Yards development in South Belgravia, Grosvenor wants to create a new destination on the boundaries of Victoria and Belgravia by hosting 19 units for food, fashion, retail, co-working and wellbeing. Expected to complete in Spring 2018, the company is creating a unique mix of businesses to contribute more to London’s success.
Central Working is the UK-wide network of shared workspaces providing supportive environments for more than 3,500 businesses of all sizes. Since launching in 2011, the shared workspace operator has played an integral role in the growth of the UK’s tech community. With capacity for more than 500 entrepreneurs in 26,000 square feet of space, Central Working Victoria is expected to mark a new hub of enterprise and innovation in London’s West End.
Charles Howard, Head of Commercial Leasing at Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “We want Belgravia to be more flexible, more open and more appealing to everyone. The signing at Eccleston Yards underlines our early commitment to this vision. With our reinvigorated retail and commercial strategy, we can create more active, integrated neighbourhoods with thriving and enterprising businesses of all sizes.
“Workspaces in Mayfair and Belgravia can adapt and support new enterprise by responding to the changing needs and aspirations of businesses, workers and residents. One of our aims for Eccleston Yards is to attract both young and established organisations by creating a complementary community that allows businesses to thrive with co-working, collaboration and knowledge-sharing. We’re delighted Central Working will be the anchor for this enterprise hub.”
Grant Powell, Managing Director of Central Working, said: “This Central Working at Eccleston Yards will provide a new hub for nurturing innovative, growing businesses in an area of London traditionally associated with grand multinational companies. Modern ways of working continue to evolve and collaborative environments are playing an increasingly integral role, not just in East London’s startup communities but across the corporate world too. We’re immensely proud to partner with Grosvenor and bring shared working to Belgravia, welcoming some of the UK’s most exciting young companies into one of London’s most historic districts.”
