A leading Midland structural engineer with years of major project experience has joined fast growing civil and structural engineering consultancy CWA Ltd.
Matt Hughes has joined the Birmingham-based consultancy as an associate structural engineer, expanding the consultancy’s capabilities for major manufacturing and industrial projects. He was previously a divisional director with Rodgers Leask, managing their London and Birmingham offices.
He worked at Rodgers Leask for 12 years and was responsible for some major developments, including government schemes requiring national atomic security clearance. He has worked with car manufacturing companies, industrial and distribution operations and the food sector, on large scale developments.
A civil engineering graduate of Coventry University, he began his career at Cameron Taylor Bedford where he worked for seven years before moving to Cox Turner Morse as a senior structural engineer, working on various projects including a 17-storey concrete framed building in Birmingham city centre.
Aged 45, his areas of expertise include industrial and manufacturing facilities and managing large-scale developments. He lives in Tamworth with his wife and two children
CWA, based in Newhall Street, is celebrating record-breaking growth and expansion having secured several major contracts in the Midlands and beyond over the last year.
CWA director Steve Wedge said the consultancy had never been busier and saw the recruitment of an engineer of Matt’s experience and capabilities as a coup for CWA.
“We are expanding rapidly with a growing portfolio of projects. Getting someone with Matt’s wide major project experience will add to the capabilities of our excellent team,” he said.
