Listed insurance and reinsurance underwriters Amlin plc and Gilroy Corporate Communications, a marketing and creative agency specialising in the IT sector, have each recently completed the acquisition of 5,500 sq.ft. office suites on Level 4 in Belvedere, Basing View, Basingstoke.
Gilroy in particular wanted to secure the additional space they needed very quickly and the Landlords were able to give them the comfort they wanted to deliver the accommodation, on time and within budget.
Another letting of 10,000 sq.ft. is in solicitors hands, and due to complete in April. All three companies are new to the building and were attracted by a combination of its impressive 5 storey atrium/meeting area, on site amenities including a coffee shop and sandwich bar, and the commercial lease terms available.
Elsewhere in the building, existing tenants occupying just over 38,000 sq.ft have renewed their leases, keen to remain in a building that really works for them, including renewals to Attask,The Fire Fighters Charity, Novatel and Waterlogic. International.
Peter Woodford, Woodford & Company, who advises the building owners in conjunction with Guy Parkes, at RARE said: “Belvedere is attracting the weight of interest in the town and continues to be the building of choice for companies wanting an HQ feel packaged in a building with excellent transport connections and good car parking provision. It also goes to re-enforce our research predicting that businesses are increasingly leaning towards town centre locations which offer staff good retail, cafes and bars on their doorstep and within walking distance of excellent train services to London.”
Peter Woodford added: “For Basingstoke, these latest moves re-enforces the towns appeal. Take up over the last two quarters has shown a significant up-swing in lettings by 35%, compared to the same time last year. Businesses are particularly attracted by the catchment of skilled staff and good surrounding housing stock. Other occupiers with their regional headquarters in Basing View include The AA, WSP, Thales, Unum, Baker Tilly, Shoosmiths, Penningtons and Sun Life”
Cordatus Partners, Fund and asset management advisers, manage the building for PwC.
